Commenting Mrs Dobson said: “It was wonderful to take the time to walk around all 60 of the fabulous trees in the Church. Each taking so much painstaking time to prepare, but equally each tree carrying an important message.

“I was delighted to see the sheer volume of people visiting the church across the weekend.

“It was lovely to see that each tree represented an organisation from across the local area, including appropriately for this week’s Small Business Saturday many local firms and shops.

“This was an excellent idea to help bring together so many local people to celebrate the real meaning of Christmas, and all for an excellent cause – to support the renovation of the Church rectory and the wonderful work of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

“I commend everyone who worked so hard to contribute to the festival, including all the marshals who helped out at the church throughout the weekend.”
