Commenting following the meeting, Mrs Dobson said: “I have had the privilege of working alongside Paula and her team since she took over last year from Mairead McAlinden and wish to commend them for all that they do.

“Paula’s moving on will be a loss to the Trust and local healthcare, and I commend her for her dedication and on behalf of the families and patients who I have contacted her as an elected representative, I am truly grateful for the professional way in which she and her team handled each case.

“I wish Paula well and welcome the opportunity to meet with the Trusts new interim Chief Executive Kieran Donaghy who takes over this week.

“At our meeting we discussed the many challenges which our healthcare system continues to face. We also reviewed a considerable number of specific cases which I have been raising with the Trust on behalf of families who have been in contact with me through my office.

“I look forward to working with Kieran as we look to the future of healthcare in this region and I once again take this opportunity to commend the healthcare professionals across the health service who are operating under immense and continuing pressures.

“I pledge to continue to, whatever the issue, work to support our Health Service and identify where changes can and must be made to improve services for everyone.”
