Diabetes UK roadshow bus rolls into town

The Diabetes UK KnowYourRisk Roadshow came to Tesco Banbridge recently , rolling into the car-park of the Castlewellan Road store.

Among those supporting the charity on the day were local Ulster Unionist MLA Jo-Anne Dobson and Councillor Glenn Barr.

Mrs Dobson, who is a member of the Stormont Health Committee and UUP health spokesperson, said: “It’s frightening to think that type-two diabetes is currently the fastest growing long-term condition in this country, with one new case diagnosed every three minutes.

“That’s why I commend Tesco and the charity Diabetes UK for bringing their roadshow to Banbridge.

“While we were there it was great to see a lot of interest building up around the roadshow bus and I commend all of the charity volunteers for their continued work and effort to improve public health.”

Councillor Barr added: “Once we know the risks we can then take the simple steps necessary to delay or stop this serious condition. It was great to see people taking that first step and getting on board the roadshow bus.

“I urge people to visit their website at www.diabetes.org.uk/knowyourrisk.”
