Dazzling displays for Marie Curie

THE newly formed Banbridge and Dromore Marie Curie Fundraising Group is hosting a floral demonstration in aid of the parent charity on Tuesday, April 20.

Dromore High School is to be the venue for ‘Through the Garden Gate’, by Yolanda Campbell, a noted designer who successfully runs her own Floral Design School, teaching recreational classes and workshops.

As an added dimension to the demonstration, Yolanda will be accompanied by singer Laura McGurk.

The fundraising group’s Siobhan Keegan said anyone who had watched Yolanda prepare floral arrangements before knew the upcoming event

promised “a delightful evening’s entertainment” and those new to her work would get great ideas to try in the comfort of their own homes.

Originally from England, Yolanda moved to Northern Ireland in 2001 and has since firmly established herself in the world of floral art.

In tandem with running her own school, she specialises in weddings and corporate work and serves as lecturer, area demonstrator and teacher for the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies.

The April 20 demonstration gets underway in Dromore High School at 8pm on the night and all proceeds will go to support the work of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Admission (8) can be paid the door, but organisers advise buying tickets in advance; they are available from Graham’s Newsagents, Dromore, Donaghy’s Shoe Shop, Banbridge and by phone (pay by card) on 028 9088 2066.

Yolanda’s floral creations will also be raffled on the night; again, all proceeds to Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Said Siobhan, “Tickets are limited, so don’t delay. After all, it’s for a good cause and an enjoyable night out.”

Meanwhile, the fledgeling Banbridge and Dromore Fundraising Group – ‘BaD’ for short - is eager to attract new members.

“If you are interested in becoming involved contact the number above and speak to Phil Kane,” said Siobhan. “Marie Curie provides high-quality nursing, totally free, to give people with terminal cancer and other illnesses the choice of dying at home supported by their families.”
