Lianne and her daddy Anthony Wilson, from the Knockmore Road plan to go off on a picnic and an adventure on June 19 to support Cancer Focus Northern Ireland’s Donations for Dads.

Cancer Focus NI is asking local families to spend extra quality time with the important men in their lives, on Father’s Day or remember their dads, by making a donation to the charity.

Lianne said, “What better way to celebrate your dad than by spending a day making precious memories with him and making a donation that you both know will help change the lives of others?

“My dad has always been my hero! He is a keen photographer and there is nothing we both love more than packing up a picnic on a sunny day and heading for an ‘adventure’ by the sea together where he can take some priceless snaps.

“This Father’s Day we are going to do exactly that. Our memories will last much longer than just another tie or book and we can both be proud of the fact that our donation will be helping others.”

She continued, “We are also encouraging those who take part to share photos and stories on social media with #DonationsForDads, We will be running a campaign on our own Facebook page throughout the next month, sharing some example stories and pictures of people who want to give a gift that gives more this Father’s Day.”

Suzi McIlwain, Community Fundraising Manager, Cancer Focus NI, said, “Every year around 6,000 men in Northern Ireland are diagnosed with cancer and their lives and the lives of their families are turned upside down.

“Cancer Focus NI is here to help these families during this difficult time through our wide range of care services.

“None of our services are possible without donations like yours, so why not show your dad you care this Father’s Day with a gift that will help dads and grandads all across Northern Ireland.”
