CRY screening makes successful return

The mayor of Coleraine, alderman Maurice Bradley and former Manchester United and Northern Ireland Harry Gregg goalkeeper attended the clinic to learn at first hand about the work of CRY and its screening clinics. Both are enthusiastic supporters of cardiac screening.

The clinic was also attended by leading local amateur golfer Alan Dunbar who was screened ahead of his busy coming golf season. John Lundy representing CRY said: “The Coleraine area is one of the strongest locations for CRY support. We are very grateful for all the financial support we receive that enables us to continue offering clinics for the benefit of anyone that wishes to get screened.”

“The generosity of local people in the Triangle area through fundraising events and corporate days by the likes of Causeway Spar Retail Group and the efforts of dozens of others running the marathon and carrying out their own activities.

“That includes the efforts of George and Jane McAlpin, Garry McGrotty and all of Aaron’s friends. It has meant we can offer the clinic at no direct charge to local people”

CRY Clinics across Northern Ireland are offered at no charge for the remainder of 2012. To date the clinics have booked out within days of being made available to the general public.

John Lundy explained: “If we hope to continue offering screening at no charge it is entirely down to the continuing generosity of local people. We believe screening saves lives and obviously the general public share our view as they continue to support our work.”

John also paid tribute to and thanked the University for the provision of its excellent facilities.
