Watch out for thieves this Christmas

In a recent incident at retail premises in Bridgewater Park a group of females made off with a substantial quantity of clothing. On Saturday, 19 November, two females entered the clothing store, one with a large balck handbag and the other carrying a purple ‘Paul’s Boutique’ bag. It is believed that the females place a number of items inside the bags. An additional three females enter the store with empty bags but leave with bulkier bags although nothing is purchased. It is believed that the females switched bags with eachother.

Constable McHenry said: “Shoplifting is not a victimless crime. We all end up paying higher prices because goods are stolen by thieves and have to be replaced at extra cost. It is therefore in everyone’s interest to ensure that offenders are deterred, by putting crime prevention measures in place.

“Business owners should ensure that staff are educated and informed about the various methods used by shoplifters and should work together to deter such thefts. Staff should be advised to report suspicious activity immediately to management who can take necessary action.
