During a disturbance in a Banbridge pub a 41-year-old man threw a stool at the bar narrowly missing a number of customers.
William James Fitzpatrick, Bambrick Terrace, Banbridge, was fined £180 for disorderly behaviour on March 13 this year. He was also ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.
Banbridge Magistrates Court heard last Thursday that around 11.10pm police received a 999 call about an ongoing disturbance in Quinn’s bar on the Scarva Road.
A large number of glasses and bottles were broken when a stool was thrown across the bar.
The defendant also pushed over another person when he attempted to get back into the bar.
Fitzpatrick was identified on CCTV. A solicitor representing the defendant said he had been drinking with friends when someone made a derogatory comment about his brother who was killed some years ago.
She added that Fitzpatrick then reacted in the heat of the moment.
He had a record but nothing related to disorderly behaviour.
