On the tot-up points system a 36-year-old man was banned from driving for six months last Thursday at Banbridge Magistrates Court.
Darren Michael Desmond Boyle, Camlough Park, Bessbrook, admitted driving without insurance on March 1 this year.
For this he was fined £200, ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy and given six points.
With six points already on his licence he was disqualified on the tot up system for six months.
He was also fined £25 for not having a vehicle test certificate.
The court heard the offences came to light when he was stopped at 2.20pm on the A1 dual carriageway at Loughbrickland.
When cautioned he said: “There’s no excuse for it.”
A barrister asked the court to keep the ban to six months.
