Police appeal after school is burgled

POLICE in Banbridge are appealing for information following the report of a burglary at St Mary’s Primary School last week. Forced entry was made to the premises sometime between Friday afternoon, June 22, and Monday morning (June, 25). The culprits made off with a Fujitsu camera stolen from a classroom.

Police in E District are now asking local people to support the ‘School Watch’ initiative to help protect local schools during holiday periods when opportunistic thieves are most likely to strike.

A police spokesperson said, “Local schools will form part of our regular patrols this summer as we work to keep them safe and we urge anyone who lives near a school to support us by keeping ‘an eye out’ for anything unusual or suspicious.”

Anyone with any information about this incident or who would like to report any suspicious activity on school premises can telephone police on 0845 600 8000 or ring the emergency 999 number if appropriate.
