More volunteers wanted

THE PSNI has appealed for more Neighbourhood Watch volunteers to look out for their local communities.

The plea was made by Inspector Jackie Gillespie at the area’s recent DPP meeting in Banbridge. Chief Inspector Ken Mawhinney said Banbridge is currently “very well serviced” with more than 20 people registered at present.

But Inspector Gillespie said they always welcome more volunteers and police can make the process of registering as hassle-free as possible for people who want to get involved.

“The volunteers are very pro-active in the district but we would ideally like every area and every development to have more Neighbourhood Watch representatives,” Ms Gillespie said.
