Man in court over Youtube dog video

A Banbridge man has

appeared in court charged with causing unnecessary

suffering to a dog.

A PSNI constable told last Thursday’s Banbridge Magistrates Court she believed she could connect Patrick Norman Cooper (43) from Pinley Park to the charge, understood to arise from an alleged incident on February 16 last year.

It was in January this year that police made an arrest after footage of a man and a dog was posted to YouTube.

Members of the public alerted the police and USPCA.

The USPCA offered a reward and police made an arrest a day later.

Deputy District Judge Mr Dunlop adjourned Cooper’s case until April 17 for a full file to be prepared.

Cooper was reminded of his bail conditions which prohibit contact with a male and female, prohibit entry to Hockley Terrace and demand compliance with regulations made by the Dogwarden.

Mr Dunlop enquired as to the condition barring contact with the male and female and was told there had been “difficulty with neighbours” and “video footage uploaded onto youtube.”
