Loughbrickland woman jailed after stealing more than £400,000 from bank

A LOUGHBRICKLAND woman has been jailed for six months after stealing more than £400,000.

Grace Harshaw, from Annaghbane Road in the village, stole the money from the Ulster Bank branch in Tandragee, of which she was the manager, and its customers in an attempt to prop up her family’s failing farm.

During a 19-month period between February 2008 and October 2009 she stole £434,500. The money was taken from the bank’s vault, from customers’ accounts and through fictitious personal loans.

All but £57,000 has now been paid back. For more on this story see Tuesday’s Leader.
