A 19-year-old man was fined £100 last Thursday at Banbridge Magistrates Court for a drugs offence.
Colin Brady, Churchview Close, Laurencetown, admitted possession of a class B drug, cannabis, on August 27 last year.
He was also ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.
The court heard that a small quantity, 11mg, was found during a search of his home.
He told police he did not know what the substance was.
A solicitor representing Brady said he previously had difficulties with drugs and alcohol but was now receiving treatment.
Brady had received a suspended sentence in July last year for breach of a community ordered and the solicitor asked the judge not to activate the sentence.
He said that the amount of cannabis found was just enough for one 20th of a cigarette.
Imposing the fine Deputy District Judge Laura Ievers said the suspended sentence was for matters of a different nature.
