The Banbridge mother said the two-month trial has been gruelling but worth it to see her beloved partner’s killers brought to justice.

“If I had to do it all again I would,” she told the Leader as she recalled coming face-to-face with the men who stole her husband from her.

In an exclusive interview Kate reveals:

- Her sympathy for the parents of 40-year-old killer Brendan McConville who “through no fault of their own” have now lost a son

- Her hopes that the imprisonment of John Paul Wootton, who was 17 at the time of the killing, will send a strong message to young people who might get caught up in violence

- Her plans to write a book inspired by her experiences from the devastating moment she heard of Stephen’s death to the judge’s verdict in last week’s trial.
