Crashed into her neighbour's fence while trying out car she had bought

Simona Dangelaite, whose address was given as Union Street, Portadown, admitted a number of motoring offences when she appeared last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

She was fined £200 and banned for six months for not having insurance and fined £25 for not having a licence.

A fine of £75 was imposed for driving without due care and attention and she was fined £100 for failing to stop after an accident.

Concurrent six month bans were also imposed on each of these offences.

As well she was ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

District Judge, Mrs Bernie Kelly, ordered forfeiture of the car.

The court heard that on July 25 this year the injured party returned home to find damage to the fence and fence post at the front of his house.

A small blue car was seen reversing away from the scene.

The defendant had got out of the car and inspected the damage before getting back into the vehicle.

When Dangelaite was spoken to she admitted she did have a licence or insurance.

A solicitor representing the defendant said she had bought this vehicle with the intention of learning to drive.

He explained that she was checking it out when the accident happened.

She later went to her neighbour and offered to pay for the damage.
