Banbridge ban for sex case accused

A court has ordered a 22-year-old man accused of sexual grooming to stay out of Banbridge and not to contact anyone under 18.

Christopher Davison stands accused of sexually grooming a child on social mediaand possessing an indecent photograph of a boy under the age of 16.

Davison, of Granville Gardens, Portadown, made a first appearance at Craigavon Magistrates Court last Wednesday.

He is charged that between July 20 and August 17 last year, for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification, he communicated with a boy under the age of 16.

He faces a similar charge in relation to an alleged offence on March 25 last year, involving another boy.

He is further accused of grooming a child between July 20 and August 17 last year bymessaging a boy and having in his possession an indecent photograph or pseudo photograph of a boy.

A police officer told the court he was familiar with the evidence in the case andbelieved he could connect the accused with the charges.

Davison was remanded on his own bail of £700 to appear again in court on August31.

Bail conditions stipulate he is to reside at his home address.

He is to stay out of Banbridge.

He is not to contact anyoneconnected with the Irish Football Association.

Nor is he to to contact anyone under the age of18 by social media, text messages or any means whatsoever.
