Assaulted ex-partner and caused damage to a door

A 34-year- old man who assaulted his ex-partner was given a combination order of probation and community service when his case was dealt with last Thursday at Banbridge Magistrates Court.

David McIntosh, Ashvale Crescent, Glasgow, admitted common assault on July 11 this year and criminal damage to a door.

He was given 60 hours community service, put on probation for 12 months and ordered to pay £100 compensation for the criminal damage.

The court heard that on July 13, the injured party reported to police that McIntosh arrived at her home and began to question her about her behaviour.

The victim also told police that a few days before he had questioned her and assaulted her. There was bruising to her leg.

The defendant also damaged a door which cost £100 to repair.

When police spoke to McIntosh he accepted he had assaulted the injured party but denied that he kicked or spat at her.

Sentencing in the case had been adjourned from a previous court so that a pre- sentence report could be obtained.

McIntosh, who worked two weeks on ands two weeks off, was assessed by the Scottish probation service and it had to be established if the local service could supervise a combination order.

A barrister representing the defendant said he would be moving to the local area inDecember.
