Arrest
following tip from public

Police in Banbridge have thanked the local community for the support which enabled officers to arrest and charge a male in connection with drugs.

On Thursday, 6 Jane, police received a report of males acting suspiciously in the Solitude Park area.

Officers attended and searched three males. One was found to have a quantity of suspected cannabis on his person and was subsequently arrested and later charged with possession of Class B drugs.

He will appear before Banbridge Magistrates’ Court on 4 July. As is normal procedure the charges will be reviewed by the PPS.

Constable McComiskey, Banbridge Response, said: “Acting on information from the public we were able to seize a quantity of illegal drugs and bring someone before the courts. This is just one example of how successful we can be in tackling crime when we work in partnership with the local community.

“We are out and about across Banbridge area but we can never be everywhere all of the time so community information is vital in helping us detect and deter crime and tackle the issues that matter to local residents and neighbourhoods.

“If you have concerns or notice suspicious activity in your own area, please contact us at the earliest opportunity on 0845 600 8000.”
