Stewart Morton admitted driving while disqualified at Gowdystown Road, Dromore, on April 20 this year, not having insurance and excess alcohol in breath.

The court heard that shortly after 5pm police received a report of a man, who had been driving, coming out of an off-licence in Dromore and he seemed under the influence of alcohol.

The vehicle registration was given to police, who received another call from a member of the public that the same vehicle had been involved in an accident; it had crashed into the wall of a house at Gowdystown Road.

There was a smell of alcohol on Morton’s breath and he said he had taken a couple of glasses of wine.

A blood sample gave a reading of 333 – the legal limit is 80.

Morton had been disqualified in July 2015 for three years in England and received a suspended sentence at Suffolk Magistrates Court.

Deputy District Judge Laura Ievers said it was a serious matter and adjourned sentencing until August 25 so that a pre-sentence report could be obtained.

She asked Morton if his address was the same as on the summons, Rowantree Road,Dromore, but he informed the court it was now Parkwood in Lisburn.
