Couple plead for return of stolen jewellery

A LISBURN couple who had a substantial amount of jewellery stolen earlier this year are urging anyone who can help them get it back to contact the police.

An aggravated burglary occurred at the couple’s home in Lady Wallace Gardens on the June 4 this year. A man and his wife were held in their home for several hours by armed and masked men who forced their way in during the early hours of the morning.

The intruders threatened the couple and demanded cash before ransacking the house. After several hours they locked the couple in a bathroom and fled with a quantity of jewellery.

The couple, although understandably shaken by the ordeal, were not seriously injured.

A number of the jewellery pieces are unique and police are keen to trace them and return them to the couple. They include gold rings and watches.

Officers would particularly appeal to jewellers or goldsmiths who may have been offered items like these for sale.

Police would also ask anyone who believes they can help identify the intruders to contact Lisburn CID on 0845 600 8000 as soon as possible. Alternatively if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their name they can contact the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
