Council opens book of condolence for police office

NEWTOWNABBEY council has opened a book of condolence for police constable Philippa Reynolds, who died at the weekend after her patrol car was hit by a stolen vehicle.

At Monday night’s Planning and Consultation Committee meeting councillors paid their respects to the family of Miss Reynolds, who had a number of links with the borough.

Councillor Jim Bingham recommended the council open a book of condolence to allow people to express their sympathies.

Alderman John Blair added: “Philippa has family living in the Antrim Line area and I met with the Chief Inspector for the area and passed on my condolences.”

The book of condolence at the council’s Mossley Mill headquarters is available for people to sign from 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
