Council offers grants tocelebrate Diamond Jubilee
The Deputy Mayor of Lisburn, Alderman William Leathem, said: “Throughout Northern Ireland there are a number of events planned to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee which will mark her 60 year reign as Monarch. The Council also wanted to give local communities the opportunity to become involved and celebrate this memorable occasion.
“The Council will be hosting a number of events during the official Diamond Jubilee Weekend from Saturday June 2 to Tuesday June 5; and further information on these will be available in due course. I hope that community groups across the Lisburn area will apply for funding to celebrate this momentous occasion,” he concluded.

Applications for these grants must be made by a bonafide Community Group governed by a constitution or other appropriate governing document recognised by the Council.
“The events that will receive support from the Council must be all-inclusive, open and accessible to everyone within the local community and take place between May 25 and June 10. I look forward to seeing applications being submitted to the Council for this memorable occasion before the closing date on Thursday April 12,” he concluded.
Application forms and guidelines for the grants can be got from the Bridge Community Centre by telephoning 9266 2496 or emailing [email protected]. In the event of the scheme being over-subscribed the Council reserves the right to enter all eligible applications into unmarked envelopes and to choose the 20 grant awards by means of a draw.
