Council offering festive funding for lights switch-ons

BANBRIDGE District Council has launched its annual Christmas Grants scheme which will enable local community groups to apply for funding to assist with the organisation of Christmas lights switch-on events.

The grants scheme gives local groups the opportunity to celebrate the festive season in their own special way and help bring a sense of Christmas cheer into their community.

Giving local communities greater input into the planning and organising of Christmas celebrations has previously proved very successful and it is hoped that this year the grants scheme will be more popular than ever.

Grants will be offered to any umbrella community group located within the smaller towns and villages of Banbridge district.

The maximum amount awarded will depend on the size of the community and the number of people that the event will cater for. To allow groups enough time to effectively plan their event, applications for the Christmas Grants scheme must be received by Friday 26 October 2012.
