Council to offer new outreach services

Banbridge council is pleased to offer a new community support outreach service to established local community groups and individuals and also to those thinking of starting a new group.

This service will take the form of weekly clinics and will focus on a number of topics including; source funding; identifying and addressing community issues; developing appropriate policies; access training programmes and advice on linking with other relevant services and agencies.

Sarah McNeill, Banbridge District Council’s Community Development Worker, explained the rationale behind this new service. “Good community development is an action that helps people to recognise and develop their ability and potential and organise themselves to respond to problems and needs which they share. It supports the establishment of strong communities that promote social justice and help improve the quality of community life.”
