Convicted of drugs offence

An arrest warrant was issued last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court to bring a 38-year-old to court after he was convicted of a drugs offence.

Nuno Miguel Dos Reis Afonso, whose address was given as Garvaghy Park, Portadown, was accused of unlawfully possessing a class B drug, cannabis, on June 18 last year.

He did not appear in court and the case went ahead in his absence.

A public prosecutor said that during a search police found cannabis and the defendant admitted that it belonged to him.

District Judge, Mrs Bernie Kelly, convicted him of the offence.

She issued an arrest warrant to have him brought before the court for sentencing.
