Confucius launch
East Antrim MLA Alastair Ross has welcomed the launch of the Confucius Institute at a special event in the University of Ulster Jordanstown campus.
State councillor Liu Yandong, China’s most senior female politician within its ruling politburo, was in attendance to officially mark the initiative to develop academic, cultural, economic and social ties between the two countries.
Mr Ross said: “There is no doubt that China is one of the world’s economic powerhouses, and as such there are huge opportunities in building relations and linkages with them which can be to our advantage.”
