Community service for drugs offences

A 25-year-old man was given 100 hours community service last Thursday at Banbridge Magistrates Court for drugs offences.

At a previous court Damien Donaghy, Brague Road, Corbet, Banbridge, admitted unlawful possession of a class B drug, cannabis, on May 2 last year and unlawful possession of a class C drug, Lyrica, on August 2 last year.

Sentencing in the case had been deferred until last week. Mr Gabriel Ingram, representing the defendant, said that an updated probation report was very positive.

District Judge, Mr Alan White, said he would go along with the recommendation in the report for community service.

He told Donaghy that the report was very positive and there had been progress made and he hoped he would keep that up.
