On Tuesday Adeva Hillis - a mother-of-one from Banbridge - donated a kidney to her father Paul Magill.

Her boss, John Magowan - who owns The Albert Bar and Snugg Restaurant in Banbridge - said he has been in contact with Adeva who told him they were “both doing well”.

“She texted me to say she is recovering as is her father,” he told the News Letter.

“From what I can gather, the operations were successful and went to plan. They have both been in recovery since Tuesday evening.

“The operation was delayed a few hours on Tuesday morning but everything seems to have gone to plan.

“Adeva said she was up on her feet this morning and walked across to her dad’s ward to see how he was but he was sleeping.”

Mr Magowan added that the pair “are both very sore and need a lot of pain relief but both are doing really well it seems”.

Mr Magowan said Adeva had been “very determined” to donate a kidney to her father “because he has a young family”.

“As she said herself, he was always tired and was missing out,” he added.

“Adeva now hopes this will give him a new lease of life and was quite happy to do it.

“She is one of the youngest people to donate a kidney in Northern Ireland.”
