Christmas hamper bonus for energy saver Aileen from Poyntzpass

A DAIRY farmer from Poyntzpass has walked off with the top prize in a recent NIE Energy prize draw.

Aileen O’Brien, who farms in partnership with her father, was entered into the draw when she had her tariff checked during a visit to the NIE Energy stand at the Winter Fair.

John McCay, Farm Energy Manager with NIE Energy, recently visited Eileen’s home to present her prize - a luxury Christmas hamper.

A delighted Aileen said, “I’m thrilled to have won this NIE Energy prize. It definitely added a touch of luxury to our Christmas.

“Dairying has gone through tough times recently and we all have to control input costs. NIE Energy wrote to us a couple of weeks ago outlining potential savings which could be achieved by changing to its Farm Night Saver tariff and inviting us to visit the NIE Energy stand at the Winter Fair to discuss how it would work on our farm.

“When we visited the stand, John talked us through our electricity usage and confirmed that we could reduce our bill by around 11 per cent by changing to the Farm Night Saver tariff.

“He also identified a range of efficiency measures which will significantly reduce energy usage and costs, and, in addition we have the added bonus of a four per cent discount for paying by direct debit.”

Congratulating Aileen on her prize, John said the free tariff check had proved very popular at the Winter Fair and had helped identify many other customers who could make real savings by changing to the Farm Night Saver.

“In the present economic climate our Farm Night Saver tariff continues to make sense and currently customers on this tariff save on average 17 per cent, or £750 off their annual electricity bill,” he said.

NIE Energy’s Farm Night Saver Heating/Night unit rate runs from 1am until 8am and anyone who would like to have a free tariff check should call NIE Energy on 08457 455 455.
