Charity run in memory of Anthony

The family and friends of a Cloughmills man who died from cancer in Febuary of this year have completed the Belfast Marathon and raised the grand total of more than £3,000 for cancer-related charities.

Anthony Patterson was first diagnosed in 2011 with bowel cancer which he was treated with radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

Anthony’s niece Aoife Laverty told the Times: “Unfortunately the cancer continued to spread. A further two years down the line with treatment, the cancer had became more aggressive. As of December 2013, he then became seriously ill and was in and out of hospital for months. Anthony ended up in the Macmillan unit in Antrim Area Hospital where he was cared for fantastically.
