Charity run in memory of Anthony

Anthony Patterson was first diagnosed in 2011 with bowel cancer which he was treated with radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

Anthony’s niece Aoife Laverty told the Times: “Unfortunately the cancer continued to spread. A further two years down the line with treatment, the cancer had became more aggressive. As of December 2013, he then became seriously ill and was in and out of hospital for months. Anthony ended up in the Macmillan unit in Antrim Area Hospital where he was cared for fantastically.

“Sadly Anthony passed away in February 2014 at the age of 56. A young man with his life still ahead of him.”

The Marathon runners fundraised using Just Giving and raised £1221.51. They also collected sponsorship money raising £1782 which they have donated to the Macmillan Unit at Antrim Area Hospital.

The Patterson family are overwhelmed with the generosity that people have donated so much and can’t thank everyone enough.
