Banbridge District Council has invested £160,000 in new high tech gym equipment and is undergoing a complete refurbishment in preparation for the re-launch of the facility at the end of February.

The new gym will feature 25 cardio vascular stations, multi-functional cable resistance stations, an olympic platform, a functional rig, a barbell bench press plus an expanded free weights and stretching area.

Many of the new machines have integrated TV and internet access, plus connectivity with customers own mobile devices.

Users will be able to save their own exercise programmes and track performance which can also be done via the web and on a smart phone app!

The new facility is not just for the experienced gym user, the centre particularly would like to encourage the fitness novice or those unfamiliar with a gym environment.

Qualified staff will be on hand at all times to make users feel at ease, explain the equipment and provide all the advice needed to find a fitness programme that suits you.

In advance of opening fully to the public on Monday 2 March, Banbridge Leisure Centre will be hosting two open days on Saturday 28 February 2015 from 1pm – 5pm and Sunday 1 March 2015 from 12pm – 5pm. Everyone is welcome to drop by to view the facilities on offer plus enjoy a complementary coffee and have a chat with the team. If you cannot make the open day sessions but would like to find out more please contact the centre on T: 028 4062 8800 to arrange a free tour.

Another great new recreational benefit being offered across the district is the introduction of a fantastic new Membership system for Banbridge Leisure and Dromore, Rathfriland and Gilford Community Centres

Set to replace the old Leisure Pass scheme which is currently being phased out, the new system offers customers two membership options where they can either make one advanced payment offering an excellent value for money option covering 12 months or arrange a monthly direct debit, again offering great value.

The direct debit option is a “no obligation” policy which means there is no contract, no hidden fee and members can cancel at any time.

Members will also be rewarded with a loyalty scheme which offers 5% or 10% discounts for 12 or 24 unbroken month’s membership respectively.

There is also a “freeze” option where members can pause membership for up to two months each year without losing this loyalty benefit.

The Membership Packages on offer include two new All Inclusive packages, a Family All Inclusive for up to two adults and three children or a Single All Inclusive for one person.

Each package gives members full use of the pool, steam room, sauna, gym, exercise classes, squash, badminton and table tennis (subject to availability and terms and conditions.)

Since being launched back in January 2015, the new membership packages have already proved extremely popular with the public and customer feedback is very positive.

For those that do not wish to avail of the excellent benefits of the Membership scheme the public will of course still be able to use the centres.

For further details on the Membership scheme please go to www.banbridgeleisure.com or enquire at Banbridge Leisure Centre or at Dromore, Rathfriland, and Gilford Community Centres.
