Causeway prove too strong as Bann are slow to start

Bann lost 56-46 to a strong Causeway team last Tuesday in Banbridge Leisure centre.

Bann started poorly but then their attack and defence worked tirelessly to ensure that momentum was maintained throughout the match. Christine Cartmill (GK) and Amanda Johnston (GD) tightly marked their opponents to try and prevent the long ball into the circle using Joanne Kerr (WD) and Emma Boyd in (C) to block Causeway attack getting the ball into the circle.

However, accurate shooting from Causeway had them take the lead in the first half.

Bann made two changes going into the second half bringing on Cathy Buchanan (WD). Bann were persistent in the second half aiming to keep the goal difference as minimal as possible continuing to put pressure on Causeway’s passing.

The Bann ladies moved the ball quickly up the court where fantastic shooting by Sarah Porter (GS) and Emma Cartmill (GA) converted these breaks into goals.

Cathy Buchanan (WD) alongside Lynn Donaldson (WA) and Emma Boyd (C) kept the momentum flowing up the court with Bann’s attackers working extremely hard around the circle edge producing some great feeds into the circle to the Bann shooters. Once again the Bann ladies showed true determination right to the final whistle.
