Caught without insurance

A 22-year-old man '˜knew exactly what he was doing' when he was caught driving without having any insurance.

Ryan Canavan, whose address was given as Carrigart Manor, Craigavon, was fined £250 and banned for three months for not having insurance on June 17 this year.

He was also ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that Canavan was stopped while driving towards Enniskeen and he confirmed to police that he did not have insurance.

A solicitor representing the defendant said he had a similar previous conviction in 2102.

He explained that Canavan only had the car a couple of weeks and sold it the day after he was stopped.

Deputy District Judge Neil Rafferty said that given the defendant’s record he knew exactly what he was doing.
