Carrick golfers top of the tree in snooker league

Carrick Golf Club ‘A’ sit top of the Larne and District League despite losing this week at home to neighbours Greenbank A.

Ricky Bradley and Stevie McLoughlin were on form for the golfers with Maurice Williams, P McCaffrey and Davy Douglas all winning for the visitors.

Ballylumford sit a point behind along with Ballyclare ‘A’, St John’s and Greenbank A and have recorded their third win from four games - this time away at The Point. Paul Wylie, Jim Magill and Philip Haveron all recorded wins for the Main Street men, with Aaron McKee and Gary McNeill replying for the hosts.

St John’s won against Ballyclare Old Boys thanks to frames successes for Damien Todd, Andy Reid and Sammy Guiller. Declan McLean and Tommy Hart took a frame each for the visitors.

At The Rooms, Latharna won their second of the season with a narrow 3-2 win against St Comgall’s. George McGregor and Raymond Weir got the Point Street men off to a good start, before Dean McDonagh secured a frame for the Saints. Jim Jackson secured the win before Shaun McAlister defeated Billy Millar.

There were also wins for Linfield, Ballyclare against Larne Legion and Ballyclare Golf Club B.

The draws have been made for The Pairs and The Knock Out Cup and will be issued to all clubs this week.

There will be a meeting in Ballylumford Club on Tuesday, December 17 at 7:30 pm sharp.

A league spokesman said any club left unrepresentated at this meeting will be fined.
