Careers advice at Tesco store

Careers advice supplied by the Department for Employment and Learning for people of all ages will be on offer at Tesco on Wednesday (August 29) between 10am to 2pm.

Staff from DEL’s Employment Service will also available to provide shoppers with information on the Youth Employment Scheme (YES).

YES is designed to give young people between the ages of 18 and 24 help and support in looking for permanent work by offering work experience opportunities. The scheme is entirely voluntary and will help develop the skills needed to get a job. Young unemployed people are encouraged to participate in YES and avail of a wide range of work experience opportunities on offer at www.jobcentreonline.com.

Geraldine Sayers from Banbridge Jobs & Benefits Office called on employers to get involved in the scheme by providing sector relevant work experience opportunities which would be supported by employer subsidies. She said, “Employers can support this initiative by providing short and long term work experience placements.”
