CAP Larne provides help with debt stress

The centre manager of Christians against poverty (CAP)in Larne Wendy Davison says that her organisation is expecting an increase in the number of people seeking its free, confidential debt relief services.

“We offer people one-to-one visits in their own home so that young families or single mothers don’t have to make an appointment and leave home,” she said.

“We help people get their paperwork together, we liaise with creditors and deal with their debts directly until they become debt-free so it’s not a one-off thing. We can change the budget if circumstances change.”

The organisation, which has been operating in Larne for two years, will also be running a number of three-week money courses on Saturdays throughout 2016.

“It’s for people who want to get a better hold on their finances, for those who are struggling or have a small amount of debt they need advice about.

“The course is held in a local church in Larne but our services are for people of all faiths and none.”
