The treasurer reported another satisfactory year of fundraising and a cheque was handed over to Cancer Research UK.

Chairman, Billy Ferguson thanked all the committee members for all their hard work and commitment during the year and paid tribute to the people of Banbridge and District for their generosity and unwavering support for the charity.

He said: “Cancer Research UK supports more than 50 researchers in Belfast - based at the Centre for Cancer Research & Cell Biology, and at the Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital.

“Currently over two million pounds is spent annually at these centres on research. This is vital work if we are to get the survival rate up from two in four to three in four within the next 20 years.
