Can you HACK it for the NSPCC?

YOUNG people from Banbridge are being encouraged to put their hiking boots on for a challenge in aid of the NSPCC’s latest campaign against cruelty to children.

The group will take a 20-mile hike up the Mourne Mountains in the name of the new HACK campaign - a Hike Against Creulty to Kids. The hike will take place on September 17 and is sponsored by Wade Training.

The route traces its way through one of Northern Ireland’s most popular areas of natural beauty where walkers will be able to take in stunning view of the coast, sea and countryside as they make their way by forest, loughs, rivers and bogs.

Jim Gallagher from Wade Training said: “There’s no time like the present for taking on new challenges, and the 2011 Mournes HACK is no exception. Personal achievement comes in all shapes and sizes, and this year’s walk is a great opportunity to test your mettle and enjoy a fantastic day out.

“We are delighted to support the NSPCC in their efforts to make a real difference for vulnerable local children. Given that the NSPCC’s activities rely heavily on fundraising events such as this, we would urge everyone with the energy and enthusiasm to take up this very worthwhile and rewarding challenge!”

Anyone, over the age of 18, wishing to take part is being urged to train beforehand for the gruelling trek. The registration fee is £20. For further details and online registrations and payments, please log on to www.nspcc.org.uk/hack or contact the Northern Ireland NSPCC fundraising office on 028 90 35 7970 or by emailing [email protected]. Final registration date is September 3.
