Calling all local buskers...Buskfest is back in town

Banbridge BuskFest is once again sending the call out to buskers from near and far to take part in the eleventh annual busking festival which this year takes place on Saturday 21 June in Banbridge Town Centre.

Every year at BuskFest the streets of Banbridge town centre are bustling with hundreds of musicians, singers, bands, solo artists and street performers from across the globe entertaining the appreciative crowds in the hope of winning a prize from the £3000 cash pot.

The competition runs from 1.00pm - 4.30pm in the town centre, and will culminate in an Awards Ceremony hosted by BBC Radio Ulster’s Ralph McLean in Solitude Park from 5.00pm - 6.00pm.

Music fans will be in for a treat, with Allison McGrath and Soulantics kicking off proceedings, followed by performances by the winners of each of the six competition categories.

As in previous years, the overall winner will have the opportunity to perform live at Sunflowerfest taking place at Tubby’s Farm, Hillsborough from August 22 to 25.

The competition offers a a number of categories, including overall winner, best individual, best band, best performance, best junior performer and the ‘Spirit of BuskFest’ prize, sponsored by The Outlet, Banbridge.

Online registration is now open via the festival website at www.buskfest.com and a large number of performers have already registered and remember if you’re not in you can’t win.
