Café in Celtictake over bid

THE proprietor of Londonderry café franchise, The Sandwich Company, wants to turn the former Glasgow Celtic merchandising shop in the city centre into an annex of the firm’s existing outlet in The Diamond.

Mr Paul McCole has applied for permission to turn the recently closed soccer store into an extension of the eatery.

The plan is for a change of use from a retail unit to a café restaurant with replacement shopfront and awnings to front and new access doors to rear.

The Sandwich Company has been operating in The Diamond for almost 20 years.

Franchises also operate at Strand Road, Spencer Road, Lisnagelvin, Strabane, Coleraine, Omagh and Letterkenny.

The company also recently became one of the first businesses to establish a presence in the new Ebrington site.

It opened its first sandwich bar in Londonderry in 1991 and claims to offer a unique eating experience and food, atmosphere and comfort beyond the expectations of customers, with food being served that would be identical from any of our stores.
