Busy club issues invitation to its candlelit service

Annaclone and Magherally Young Farmers' Club has continued this year's busy schedule of events, with members attending club meetings and taking part in competitions.

Nine members of the Banbridge-based club competed in the County Down heat of the Public Speaking Competition on Tuesday, October 28.

Zara Ginniff, Connor Woods and Andrew Sleator all progressed to the Northern Ireland finals, where Connor came third.

The final meeting of October was a ‘mystery night’ and as it was Halloween, the activity was pumpkin carving. Three teams competed in the annual Group Debating competition on November 9 and Rachel Nelson, Timothy Savage and Andrew Sleator’s team advanced to the Northern Ireland Finals, where they were placed fourth.

Members attended the Annual County Dinner and Prize Giving on November 12 and it highlighted the success of Annaclone and Magherally YFC.

The ‘Home Management’ and ‘Ulster Young Farmer’ competitions were held at the club hall on November 24.

This involved members completing a series of tasks, such as making a bird feeder from recycled materials and completing a series of agricultural-themed questions.

Lisburn Bowling was next on the agenda, on November 16.

Club members also attended the pantomime at the Grand Opera House on December 5.

Two members, Ryan Rodgers and James Boyd are taking part in the ‘YFCU’s Got Talent’, with compere Pete Snodden of Cool FM, on January 7.

The YFC invites everyone to uts ‘Christmas by Candlelight Service’ at the club hall on the Ballydown Road, Banbridge, on Sunday, December 11 at 8pm.

All money from the collection will go to the Children’s Heartbeat Trust NI and there will be a festive supper served after the service.
