With over 90 acts from near and far already registered the public will be wowed with a wealth of music and entertainment throughout the afternoon.

The busking runs from 1pm to 4.30pm in the town centre and during this time there will be free face painting and balloon modelling on offer.

Call into the Banbridge Box, located on Newry Street, where you can view some fabulous fine art pieces produced by local artists or get involved with one of the various free art activities taking place throughout the afternoon.

The entertainment continues at 4.30pm in Solitude Park when local singer-song writer and BBC’s The Voice contestant, Daniel Duke and his band perform on stage before BBC Radio Ulster’s Ralph McLean announces the eagerly awaited winners of each category.

These include: overall winner, best individual, best band, best junior performer, best performance, which is sponsored by Banbridge Chamber of Commerce and the ‘Spirit of BuskFest’ prize, sponsored by The Outlet, Banbridge.

A long-time supporter of BuskFest, Ralph spoke of his delight at being involved once again with the competition.

He said: “BuskFest for me is my favourite musical day of the year. The sheer range and depth of musical talent that takes to the streets every year never fails to amaze me.

Down the years I’ve seen some incredible musicians and performers do their thing on the streets of Banbridge.

Some have gone on to record sessions for my BBC radio show, tour and play with some of the biggest names in showbiz and even appear on national television.”

The overall winner will also be given a prime slot to play at Sunflowerfest which takes place at Tubby’s Farm, Hillsborough from 31 July to 2 August.

As well as a superb cash prize the winners of the Best Band category will also be given the opportunity to perform on the Friday night at the Linenfields Festival which takes place on 21 & 22 August at Lenaderg, Banbridge.

Performers can register online until 2pm on Friday 26 June, however if you miss the registration deadline you can still register on the day of the event at the Old Town Hall, Scarva Street, Banbridge from 9.30am to 11.30am.
