Buckfast said to be aggravating feature

A judge adjourned sentencing in a case last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court saying that Buckfast was an aggravating matter in the case.

Connor Henry (18), whose address was given as Abbey Manor, Lurgan, pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour on August 27 this year.

He also admitted three assaults on police officers.

The court heard that at 12.40am in Charles Street police on mobile patrol saw the defendant throw a bottle of Buckfast at a land rover.

The bottle smashed in the street.

Henry started to shout and swear at police and handcuffs had to be applied.

He kicked out at a constable, spat at another officer and attempted to head-butt a constable.

District Judge, Mrs Bernie Kelly, said that given Buckfast was a serious aggravating feature she would adjourn sentencing until November 4 for a pre-sentence report.
