Brothers bravely take on skydive for charity in memory of mum

The brothers’ mother Angela Graham, originally from Newry, was just 47 when she was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2011 and passed away less than five months later.

Talking about the skydrive Davy said: “My younger brother Andrew and myself wanted to do something in her memory whilst giving back to Newry Southern Area Hospice who had really impressed us with their astounding care for my mum towards the end of her life.

“We also wanted to raise funds for Cancer Focus who do an excellent job in support for cancer patients and their family’s as well as being one of the major fund raisers for cancer research in Northern Ireland.”

Davy who has a strong background in Downhill mountain biking and was selected for the Irish Downhill Mountain Bike Team twice.

He went on to be ranked 14th in Europe, so Davy added that it was only fitting to do “something a little more exciting than a sponsored walk”.

“A skydive just seemed to tick all the boxes,” he said.

Fundraising began this time last year with a male waxing night at The Coach, Banbridge.

Next up was a raffle night at Diamond Pats Newcastle, another excellent night, a “block colour” themed night was held in The Anchor Bar, Portstewart and two bag packs took place in Tesco Banbridge and in Iceland Newry.

Davy and the rest of the skydiving team wish to all their friends and family and the businesses who supported them as well as the people who gave generous donations.
