Brookfield residents hold community day

Both communities joined together for a fun day in the community where activities included a barbecue, face painting, an obstacle course, sumo suits and a bungee run, to mention just a few.

The Community Sports Day catered for all ages and invitations to neighbouring estate Edenderry has embraced the principle of a shared society and increased community bonding.

This event was funded through the Housing Executive’s Shared Community Programme and it was organized in partnership with Policing Community Safety Partnership.

This was a great occasion for residents from both estates to come together in a relaxed fun day giving everyone an opportunity to mix, to build relationships and to promote good community relations.

Some local councillors joined in the fun as well as staff from the Housing Executive and Banbridge PCSP.

Speaking at the event Claudia O’Neill, the Housing Executive’s South Area Cohesion Advisor, said, “This event was very successful and provided an opportunity for all residents to participate in shared activities in a safe and neutral environment. Brookfield Combined Community Association has been very open in promoting community participation and building good relations between all residents in the area.”
