Brookfield group raise £400 for kids

BROOKFIELD Community Association recently had a successful fundraising night which raised more than £400.

Money raised will go towards Christmas presents for local children. Group member Michelle Copeland said spirits were high last Friday night.

“I think everyone was looking forward to the sponsored wax the most,” said Michelle. “On saying this we would like to thank Christine Sheehan, from Cloud 9 Nail & Beauty Salon, Lurgan for doing the waxing on the night and not forgetting the three men who took part - Colin Copeland, Marc Currans, Martin Burns.

“They provided us all with some great entertainment. Marc who has just recently moved into the estate brought along friends and family, so it gave them all the opportunity to see what we as a community group and estate are like.

“Also Colin, Stephen and Gavin who don’t live in the estate - it was nice to see that other estates can help eachother out. Gavin couldn’t take part due to work commitments and neither could Stephen due to a family bereavement.

“At this stage we would like to pass our condolences on to the Walsh family for the passing of a dearly loved wife, mother and grandmother, Miriam.

“We would like to thank Paddy Donaghy and his team at O’Reilly’s for letting us use the facilities. It was actually Paddy’s suggestion to use O’Reilly’s and it was close to home too.

“They also donated one of the many raffle prizes. We would like to thank Henning’s Butchers, Jk’s, Banbridge Fuels, The Pantry, Iveagh Movie Studio’s, Beauty Boutique, Q Cabs, Bann Taxis, Captain Cooks, Domino’s Pizza, Luscious, Rachel Orr At Your Fingertips and The Spar Dromore Road.

“We would also like to thank everyone that turned up on the night, everyone that bought raffle tickets or helped out in any way. And not forgetting the fabulous Grants, Tracey & Billy for taking time out to sing for us on the night & also thanks to Brian’s karaoke disco.

“A great night was had by all and we as a community group really appreciate the support that was shown and hopefully we can do the same again next year.

“We would also like to take this opportunity in wishing the residents and friends of Brookfield a peaceful Christmas & New Year.”
