Brian was a cheery and friendly man

THE passing of Mr Brian Easton, 20 Chinauley Park, Banbridge, took place in the Southern Area Hospice in the early hours of Sunday morning February 6.

He had just been transferred from Craigavon Area Hospital a few days before. He was the dearly loved husband of Wendy and loving son of Vicky. Brian sustained a harsh blow on the passing of his mother Molly some five years ago. He had just been diagnosed with cancer less than a year ago. He had reached the age of 60 years. A man of cheery and friendly disposition, he was held in the highest respect by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Brought up in the Dechomet area he attended school there and then went to Rathfriland Intermediate.

After leaving school he went to serve his time in the Painting and Decorating Trade with Billy Rooney.

After this he drove heavy haulage lorries and then went back to the painting. He had to employ extra staff as his work was plentiful and keenly sought after. He had a great association with one of the staff Paul Reid.

Married on 17 June 1978 to Miss Wendy Thompson, they had a very happy marriage and came to live in Banbridge.

He loved cars and took a great pride in his own Suzuki 4x4. He enjoyed watching wrestling and darts on television and was a country and western music fan. A lover of DIY, he enjoyed repairing different articles and was very gifted with his hands.

His main interest was centred around his home and family and it is there that his passing will be mostly felt.

He is survived by his wife Wendy, his father Vicky, two sisters Norma and Janet, one brother Wallace, brothers-in-law Charlie and Nigel, sisters-in-law Muriel and Glynis, several nephews and nieces.

To these and all other relatives sincere sympathy has been extended. The funeral took place from his home at 20 Chinauley Park, Banbridge for a service in First Rathfriland Presbyterian Church at which the large congregation heard his minister the Rev Philip Thompson gave an inspiring and challenging address of Brian’s life. The hymns “The Lord’s My Shepherd” (new version) and “How Great thou art” were sung.

Mrs Helena Malcolmson presided at the organ. The interment took place in the adjoining Churchyard. Family flowers were placed on the grave and donations in lieu of flowers are being sent to William Bell and Co Funeral Directors, 23 Kenlis Street, Banbridge, BT32 3LR for the Southern Area Hospice and Macmillan Nurses. Cheques should be made payable to William Bell and Co.

William Bell and Co had charge of the funeral arrangements.
