Braille printer presented to Sense in Carrickfergus

The printer was handed over to the deafblind charity by Samantha Brown and her father-in-law Mike Dunn.

Samantha has Usher Syndrome and is profoundly deaf and is now registered blind. Her husband is also profoundly deaf, however they have three hearing children. Samantha is part of the Sense NI committee.

Samantha and Mike organised a Zumba-thon at St Gall’s Church in Bangor to raise money for Sense, which supports and campaigns for children and adults who are deafblind.

They also had a raffle and sold tray bakes and cupcakes in order to raise funds.

It was £5 to take part in the Zumba-thon, which lasted for more than two hours, and this was organised by Julie McCartney, an instructor who holds classes every Monday and Wednesday night in St Gall’s Community Hall. Around 80 people attended and they raised approximately £1750.

Samantha and Mike would like to send special thanks to Julie McCartney, John Davis, Cathy Wilton and Kelly Newton, the instructors for the Zumba-thon, as their help was very much appreciated for this event.
