Blacthorn events to resume at new venue

Blackthorn Pipers’ Society gets its third season

underway on October 23

at a new venue in the Fresh

Oil Ministries and Music

Centre at Princes Street .

Doors open at 7.30pm as usual and everyone is welcome.

The Blackthorn Piper will be Belfast native Dr. Peter McAllister.

Peter has lived in Scotland for most of his life now. He is very active not just in The Piobaireachd Society but across the whole piping scene in Scotland.

He has just completed his three-year tenure as the secretary of the Competing Pipers’ Association.

The association is run and managed by pipers as the mark at which competitive piping is measured.

A Blackthorn Pipers Society spokesperson said, “Bring your instruments along and share your thoughts, tunes, ideas, and gripes or lend an ear in the direction of a Blackthorn Piper.

“We need support from all pipers within the community.”

Upcoming gatherings - held each month on a Wednesday night - are planned for November 20, December 28 - with a recital at Dromore Rugby Club by Andrew Carlisle, and ointo the New Year, on January 22, February 19, March 19 and April 23.
